I'm Yves Paternoster, a fine art photographer specialising in landscape, cityscape, and portrait photography — the kind of images that ask you to slow down and look again.
Photography found me early. At fifteen I had a Yashica and a single 50mm lens, and I shot black and white that I developed and printed myself. What drew me in then is what still holds me now: photography lives at the intersection of physics and aesthetics. Light behaves according to precise laws, and yet the image it forms can move you in ways no equation predicts. That tension has never stopped fascinating me.
I built my career in engineering, but the camera was always with me. Over the years I kept learning — I graduated from the New York Institute of Photography and drew inspiration from photographers such as Serge Ramelli, with whom I took part in a couple of on-site workshops that sharpened how I see and shape a frame.
Today my work spans luminous landscapes, sunrises and sunsets, the blue hour over cities, forests, and black-and-white. Each frame is an attempt to hold a fleeting balance of light and form long enough to share it.
